Date And Time We Receive Your Application

We must receive your application before your work permit expires in order to keep your status current. There are two methods we can ascertain the day and hour an application was received:

1. If you submit your application online, you must do so by midnight
   UTC on the day your work permit expires.
2. Coordinated universal time is used by our online application system (UTC).
   Make sure you are aware of the difference between UTC and your local time.
3. If you submit a paper application: At the case processing centre, we stamp paper applications the day they are received. If an application is submitted to us after your work permit has expired, we will count back seven days and use that date as the receipt date.

Your work permit cannot be extended past the date on which your passport expires. Ensure that your passport won’t expire prior to the requested permit expiration date.
